Marketplace Messaging System

Context
Kufar, Belarus’ leading classifieds platform (ex-Adevinta), relied heavily on peer-to-peer messaging, with ~70% of users engaging in daily conversations. Messaging was a core surface directly impacting engagement, trust, and transaction success.
The existing messaging experience lacked structure and scalability, limiting clarity and increasing friction in buyer–seller communication.
My role
Took ownership of product and requirements definition in early project stages, shaping the messaging center structure and feature scope
Developed and tested two alternative prototypes with real users to validate core interaction patterns and reduce concept risk before development
Defined end-to-end user flows across iOS, Android, responsive Web
Documented interaction logic, and edge cases, user stories to align product and engineering
Designed micro-interactions and conversation states to improve clarity, responsiveness, and perceived reliability of communication

Chat Navigation

Chata were designed with accordance with the messaging apps trend, but there still was a risk that some elements might be confusing. Prototype testing proved that users understand all the messages statuses, can navigate through chats and don't have any difficulties in finding chat for specific ad

System Messages

Original hypothesis and risk was that users would perceive “system messages” as messages from real user and
will be disturbed by “system messages” from Kufar. Luckily it wasn't proved

Conversations List
The redesigned interface allows users to view a list of conversations with the option to delete individual conversations, providing a clutter-free inbox.
The conversation list screen also includes ad previews and user information to provide context for each conversation.
